BIOGRAPHY

Katie Kavalsky, MSW, LCSW-C is a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist at Terra Counseling and Consulting. Katie received her Bachelor’s of Social Work from Eastern University in 2006 and her Master’s degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2007. Katie began her career in private practice at Wellspring Counseling in 2009 and recently worked at the Anxiety and Stress Disorders Institute of Maryland.

Katie brings to her work an appreciation for the complexity of the human experience and deep respect for the power of each person’s journey. Beyond treating symptoms, Katie is passionate about caring for the whole person. She provides this care by offering strategic support to individuals and families who are suffering, while simultaneously facilitating intentional growth and change. Through her mindful approach, clients experience both support and growth in a meaningful way. During her tenure as a therapist, Katie has witnessed the profound transformation that can occur during seasons of personal struggle or change, and she’s observed how those changes imbue a sense of power and purpose to our journeys. It is Katie’s desire to serve as a guide along that path for each of her clients.

With Katie, a counseling relationship is a place where children, adolescents, and adults can expect to receive support and treatment in a caring and empathetic partnership. For each client, Katie will customize a treatment plan to effectively and compassionately address the concerns that brought the client to therapy. Katie provides treatment for anxiety; depression; adjustment to life transitions; trauma; relationship distress involving parenting, sibling relationships, or romantic relationships; grief and bereavement; and peripartum and post-partum mental health. Katie is also skilled at utilizing the Enneagram as a dynamic tool, both within her clinical practice and with for-profit and non-profit organizations.

Welcome to #FridayIntroductions – I’m new here. My name is Katie Kavalsky (@redballoonradio) and I’m a clinical social worker and psychotherapist at Terra🌱 Here are some fun facts to help you get to know me🍃 1. I love the #MyBmore food scene! Some of my favorite food memories are from when I enjoyed Shrimp and Grits at @JacksBistro in Canton, @OtterbeinsCookies Sugar Cookie Ice Cream at @TheCharmery, and the Tavern Burger at @Towson_Tavern. 😋 2. When it comes to recent reading, I have been so enriched by the work of @brenebrown, and recently read her book Braving the Wilderness. I highly recommend it! #truebelonging 📚 3. I’m a fan of adopting the ‘No bad weather, only bad clothes’ mantra and use it as an excuse to buy all sorts of gear that gets myself and my two boys outside as much as we can! #optoutside 🏞 4. I have a personal goal of learning how to say “Where is the pastry shop?” in as many languages as possible. So far I have five tucked away for whenever they’d come in handy. #spanish #french #serbian #italian #english #priorities 🇪🇸 🇫🇷 🇷🇸 🇮🇹 🇺🇸 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇬🇧 #RotundaWings
